Budding scientist at the RCPE
[News vom: 07.07.2010]
The RCPE affords to 11 young people the possibility to get to know the very interesting field of pharmaceutical research and development in the course of an internship.
Project generation innovation
The project generation innovation
is initiated by the Federal Ministry of Transport, Innovation and Technology (bmvit) and the Federal Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture (bm:ukk). It provides pupils an insight into natural scientific and technical vocational fields.
Therefore, the RCPE has allocated five internships. Each of the selected pupils is assigned to an mentor of internship, who allows the pupil to contribute in the particular field of work. Beyond that, the pupils are able to catch up on different courses of study, which qualify for natural scientific and technical jobs. In this connection the pupils are able to have conversations with employees of the RCPE about their studies and experiences.
The project aims at interesting the pupils in technical and natural scientific studies in order to be provided with well qualified work force in the long term.
Gender balance in the internships
The unusual positive gender balance in the internships (7 female and 4 male interns) shows a very pleasant trend, which surely will advance in the future: more and more women go for technical and natural scientific jobs. And that is just great! Women provide an enormous potential for such jobs and the increased utilization of that potential will lead to numerous advantages in the future (e.g. new perceptions, renunciation of stereotypical vocational fields, etc.).
That pleasant development is also shown by those trainees, who already pursue relevant studies. From the 6 trainees, who want to gather practical experiences, 4 (66%)are female.
These developments pleases the RCPE and show, that the RCPE, which has identified and taken advantage of the trend toward more and more female employees early, is on a very successful way.
