Advanced Products and Delivery

Area II “Advanced Products and Delivery” combines advanced physical, chemical and engineering principles towards pharmaceutical product development. This is accompanied by diverse mechanistic approaches including Molecular Dynamics, Stability prediction and molecular pharmaceutics of amorphous and nano-formulations. It harbors a strong expertise in Particle and Solid-State Engineering towards developing drug products and intermediates with improved pharmaceutical performance, processability and stability. The expertise also covers material pharmaceutics to assist physicochemical profiling, solid form screening/characterization of drug substances, preformulation studies and deformulation support to generic product development. Design and development of conventional solid oral dosage forms (eg. tablet, capsule), inhalation dosage form (DPI) to enabling formulations (solid dispersions, nano-formulations, lipidic formulations), patient centric formulations (taste masking, personalized delivery) and specialized drug delivery (alcohol-resistant and abuse-deterrent products) are carried out. Preformulation and formulation design are well-supported by conventional to novel in vitro biopharmaceutics models, in silico mechanistic PBPK modeling, IVIVC etc. for oral and inhalation product.

Area II activities are performed by a team of multi-disciplinary experts with a fundamental industrial and/or scientific background. Both, the high numbers of publications in peer reviewed journals as well as the strong presence at internationally recognized conferences are just two examples displaying the widely acknowledged scientific reputation of our experts in Area II.
